Your Home Has a “Money Corner” — Here’s How to Find It

Stand at your door, look in — that far diagonal decides whether money stays.

David, a thirty-five-year-old accountant in Chicago, is good with numbers but terrible at keeping money. “I make decent money but it just… disappears,” he says. Bills always catch him off guard. His Chinese grandmother takes one look at his apartment and says: “Your money pit has no pot.” In feng shui, every home has a wealth corner — and if it’s cluttered, dark or blocked, money literally flows out.

1. Finding your wealth corner

Stand at your front door looking in: the wealth corner is the farthest diagonal corner from the door. Door on the left, the corner is at the far right; door on the right, the corner is at the far left; door in the centre, both far corners qualify. It should be clean and clutter-free (clutter blocks the money flow), well-lit (dark means financial darkness), and active — a plant, crystal or decorative piece to activate the energy.

2. What to place (and avoid)

Best items: a healthy green plant (jade plant, money tree or bamboo) for growth; a crystal cluster (clear quartz or citrine) to amplify energy; a small fountain if the sector suits water; coins in a red envelope to symbolise accumulation; a bowl of shiny objects for abundance. Avoid: trash cans or recycling bins; broken items awaiting repair; thorny plants like cactus; dead or dried plants; electronics, which scatter wealth energy.

3. Your bedroom vault

Your bedroom has its own wealth corner, found the same way — diagonal from the bedroom door. This is your personal vault: keep your jewellery box, important documents or savings book here. A locked drawer or box in this corner acts as your financial safe. Never put a trash can or cleaning supplies in it.

4. Wealth corners in 2026

East — the Eight White star, the primary wealth star: best for career income and salary growth. North — the Six White star, the windfall star: bonuses, investment returns and helpful people. Southeast — the Nine Purple star of celebration: promotions and good news. South — the Five Yellow, the year’s most inauspicious star: needs remedy and no ground-breaking.

Case study

David cleared out his wealth corner — it had been his shoe storage, or as he put it, “stepping on your money” — and placed a jade plant and a citrine crystal there, adding a small LED string light for brightness. He also started keeping his emergency-fund documents in a box in that corner. Within three months he got an unexpected $2,000 tax refund, his side business landed its biggest client yet, and he finally began saving consistently. “I know it sounds crazy,” he laughs, “but something definitely shifted.”
