Room photos No plan? Walk through each room and note your compass bearing. We'll assemble the reading room by room. Single-room reading

Don't have a floor plan? Most people don't. A clear hand-drawn sketch photographed from above works fine — the outline, the room divisions and the door are what matter.

Read it from your phone compass while standing at the door. This anchors all eight palaces.
How do I find this?

  1. Stand inside, at your front door Stand inside your home, facing the door you normally enter through.
  2. Read your compass Your phone's compass app works. Note the direction you are facing — that is your door's facing direction.
  3. Match it to one of eight directions Pick the closest of the eight. Each covers 45 degrees.
  4. Magnetic or true north? Phone compasses read magnetic north. Classical Ba Zhai uses the magnetic compass, so use the reading as-is — no conversion needed.

Not sure? You can change it later and re-run at no cost.

Finding your door direction with a phone

  1. Open the compass app that came with your phone — or any free one from the app store.
  2. Stand in the doorway, hold the phone flat in your palm, and let the needle settle for a second.
  3. Read the number the screen shows, then match it to the closest direction below. North is 0°, East 90°, South 180°, West 270°.
  4. If it lands almost exactly between two directions, either is fine — the reading will flag it as a boundary case and tell you.

What floor plan works best

  • A plan from the developer, the estate agent, or a furniture-layout export — anything where the walls and rooms are visible.
  • One floor at a time. For a duplex or a house, upload each floor as its own reading.
  • A hand-drawn sketch is fine too, as long as the outer walls and the door position are clear.
  • Avoid: photos taken at an angle, or plans where furniture covers the room names.

Process

How it works

  1. 01

    1 · Upload the plan

A top-down floor plan plus the direction your main door faces.

  2. 02

    2 · Confirm the layout

We map rooms and objects into the eight palaces. You can correct anything before the reading runs.

  3. 03

    3 · Read the report

Free preview with your score and two key findings. Unlock the full remedy plan only if it helps.

Do I need a professional floor plan?

No. A clear hand-drawn sketch photographed from above works. What matters is the outline, the room divisions and where the main door sits.

What happens to my floor plan?

It is read, converted into structured palace data, and discarded. The image itself is never written to disk.

Do I need to know my birth data?

No. The reading is based on the home itself — the plan and the door orientation. Birth data is optional and only affects personal direction matching.

Why not just ask a human feng shui master?

You can, and for complex renovations you probably should. But a consultation runs by the minute and depends on who you get. This applies one documented method, the same way, every time, for a flat fee.

How this was computed Every score comes from a documented rule set — palace mapping, Ba Zhai life-trigram matching and annual Flying Stars. Nothing on this page is generated by a language model.
